Transparency Report
We publish how many requests for user data we receive from governments and courts, and what we are technically able to hand over. We will update this report every six months.
Requests received
| Type | Received | Data disclosed |
|---|---|---|
| Government or law-enforcement requests for user data | 0 | 0 |
| Court orders, subpoenas, warrants | 0 | 0 |
| Requests to remove content or suspend accounts | 0 | 0 |
What we cannot provide
We do not have it, so no request can obtain it from us:
- the content of messages and attachments;
- the content of voice and video calls;
- your contact list, address book or conversation history;
- the keys that decrypt any of the above. They exist only on your devices.
What exists on our servers
A limited set of technical data needed to run the service: account and device identifiers, public keys, encrypted messages waiting for delivery (unreadable to us), notification tokens and, if you added one, a keyed hash of your phone number. The Privacy Policy lists each item and how long it is kept.
How we respond
We disclose data only when legally required, and only what the request specifically covers. We challenge requests that are unlawful or overly broad. Where the law allows, we tell the affected user before disclosing anything.
